Through a glass darkly : a spiritual psychology of faith
Meadow, Mary Jo, 1936-
Meadow, a clinical psychologist and professor of psychology and religion at Mankato State University in Minnesota, uses spiritual practices from Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism as catalysts to precipitate a more flexible vision of faith. At the same time, she also gives quite a drubbing to dogmatism, triumphalism and fanaticism, urging people to view "this deeply personal and value-laden aspect of human experience" as a dynamic process of choice and experiment. Indeed, Dr. Meadow salutes doubt as an opportunity to ripen and deepen religion. As a result, Through A Glass presents a bold, ecumenical and versatile vision of faith that should appeal to many different types of seekers.
